Who’s Afraid of Fox News?

Who’s Afraid of Fox News?  Apparently, the Obama administration.

On 23 August, Tammy Duckworth, Obama’s Assistant Secretary of Veterans Affairs, appeared on Fox News Sunday with Chris Wallace. You can read the transcript here.

Duckworth made some statements which simply were not true and Chris “fact checked” her — that is to say, he corrected her on-air.

Anita Dunn, the White House “Communications” Director was livid. She claims that she has never seen a Sunday show fact-check a guest. Apparently she has been watching some pretty worthless television news! Since that event, the Obama administration has ordered a blackout of communications with Fox News to punish them for their lack of servility.

I find it appalling that, in America, we have politicians who believe they are too important to be questioned.  Thomas Jefferson wrote “When a man assumes a public trust, he should consider himself as public property.”  Apparently the Obama administration considers the American people to be their property.

The Obama administration is now afraid to appear on Fox News, for fear they might have their facts checked.  It seems to me that an honest person would have no fear of this.  When I am wrong, I appreciate it when someone sets me straight.  That’s a lesson in humility which the Obama administration apparently has not learned.

Fox News, for it’s part, is flourishing wonderfully under this new government repression.  It appears that the lack of government propaganda ministers is actually attracting viewers to Fox News! In the two weeks since Anita Dunn’s mindless attack on Fox News, their ratings have gone up 9%.  Even more importantly, their ratings have risen 14% among the very profitable 25-54 year old demographic.

In fact, the top thirteen cable news shows are all on Fox:

  1. The O’Reilly Factor
  2. Glenn Beck
  3. Hannity
  4. Special Report with Brent Baier
  5. The Fox Report with  Shepard Smith
  6. On The Record with Greta van Susteran
  7. Your World with Neil Cavuto
  8. The O’Reilley Factor (rebroadcast)
  9. America’s Newsroom
  10. Studio B with Shepard Smith
  11. Happening Now
  12. The Live Desk
  13. Fox and Friends

Perhaps the other “news” networks will finally wake up and realize that Americans are sick and tired of watching them play lap dog to a failed administration.

Bill O’Reilly receives more than three times as many viewers as his leftist rival in the 8pm time slot.  Glenn Beck is doing even better, beating his leftist opponent in the 5pm slot by a factor of five.  Sean Hannity is only doubling his leftist challenger in the 9pm slot, even though that show has lost 50% of it’s viewers in the last twelve months.  Maybe Hannity needs a replacement for Colmes?
