When You Act Like a Fool, People Will Laugh at You
Part of Richard Pryor’s stand-up comedy routine was to say “When you run down the street on fire, people get out of your way.” Richard learned this after setting himself on fire while freebasing cocaine while drinking 151-proof rum. He ran down Parthenia Street until he was stopped by the police and he ended up with burns over half his body.
Penn State professor Michael Mann apparently hasn’t learned much from Richard Pryor. He got caught manipulating climate data for political purposes. He’s the idiot who monkeyed with the numbers to create the hilarious hockey stick graph which showed that the planet is going to burn to a crisp unless we all give up capitalism, take vows of poverty, and learn to enjoy freezing in the dark.
Mann’s ineptitude has led to a plethora of jokes, humorous graphics, and videos. One of the best is Hide The Decline from Minnesotan’s For Global Warming.
Mann is taking his stupidity to new depths by threatening the creators of this humorous video with a lawsuit. This not only flies in the face of our treasured national heritage of respect for freedom of speech, it also opens up Mann’s entire body of shoddy scholarship to legal discovery.
If Mann goes ahead and sues Minnesotan’s For Global Warming, their obvious defense is truth. In American courts, truth is an almost absolute defense. To prove this truth, the defendants will petition the court for “discovery.” This means that the defendants will be given legal access to all of the data which Mann is currently hiding from public inspection.
Mann’s threats are baseless. Not only can’t he win in court, he can’t even take the risk of getting into court. All that he has succeeded in achieving with this threat is making himself look like even more of a fool and keeping his shame in the public limelight for an even more extended period of time. Some people are just too stupid to quit while they are behind.
