The Ides of March

Today, 15 March, was known on the Roman calendar as The Ides of March. Today we celebrate the murder of Julius Ceasar on this date in 44 B.C.

Ceasar’s death was reportedly foretold by a a soothsayer who warned him with the words “Cave Idus Martiae”, which means “Beware the Ides of March.”

Julius Caeser had effectively dismantled the Roman republic and replaced it with a dictatorship with himself as the head.

Let this be a warning to dictators everywhere. Chavez, Mugabe, Castro — people are coming for you.
