I had a similar experience when I was living in South Korea. I was living near Seoul in a suburb and I had come down with a pretty serious infection. As I was normally healthy, I had let a sinus infection turn into a very serious case of bronchitis. My entire upper respiratory system was infected; my nose, my ears, my throat, and my lungs. When I finally decided to go to the hospital, I was having hallucinations and my temperature with near 105°.

What I experienced was unexpected. The care was fast and uncomplicated, and within an hour I was lying in a bed being treated with IV drip antibiotics. An hour after that I was out of the hospital.

The real surprise was when I got the bill; the total for my treatment was less than 100USD.
