Frontlines of Freedom

Frontlines of Freedom

Frontlines of Freedom is a web site and radio show for military members, veterans, and their families.

It is not commonly known that the size of the United States Armed Forces is limited by Congressional mandate. The Army is currently only allowed to have 514,000 soldiers — as opposed to the 1.6M soldiers the Army was allowed during the Korean War.

These limitations, and the increased demand for our worldwide peacekeeping efforts, have forced the armed forces to call upon the men and women of our armed forces to serve extended and repetitive deployments overseas. This creates hardships not only for our service members, but also for their families.

Our service members always need our support, but they need our support now more than at any time in recent history.

Frontlines of Freedom is broadcast on Wood Newsradio 1300 and you can listen the station online over the Internet here.

Implement Free Trade Now

Implement Free Trade Now

While the Obama administration continues to pay lip service to the American ideals of freedom and prosperity, its actions clearly show that it supports very different values.

In the waning days of the Bush administration, free trade deals were signed with three important American allies: Colombia, Panama and South Korea.

Congressional leftists managed to destroy the “fast track” process which was in place until 2007.  This process had prevented the leftists from delaying free trade deals by attacking them with and endless stream of minor modifications.

The Obama administration has failed to implement the free trade deals with Colombia, Panama and South Korea — a slap in the face to our allies.

According to the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, this failure of the Obama administration is responsible for the loss of 383,400 American jobs.  Read the full report at Trade Action—or Inaction: The Cost for American Workers and Companies.

The United States is not a great country due to the actions of chance, the United States is a great country due to adherence to a certain set of ideals.  Chief among those ideals liberty.  Free trade is the economic expression of liberty.  No person can truly call themselves an American while opposing the free exchange of goods and services.  Cuba is just a few miles off the coast of Florida.  I highly recommend it as a destination for anyone who believes that government control of the economic decisions of individuals is preferably to freedom.

Who is Browsing Porn on the Internet?

Who is Browsing Porn on the Internet?

Google Trends is an interesting service which lets you view aggregate data regarding popular searches on the web. You can see what topics are hot, you can compare the search volumes of various topics, and you can see what countries are searching for various terms.

That last feature produces some interesting results when you analyze pornography searches, because it allows us to see what types of pornography are preferred by various nations, cultures, and religions.  Let’s look at some real data regarding some very disturbing search terms.

Search Term Top Search Source
child porn video Indonesia
child sex Pakistan
child rape video Pakistan
teen rape Pakistan
real rape video Pakistan
animal sex Pakistan
goat sex Pakistan
pig sex Pakistan
dog sex Pakistan
sex with animal video Pakistan

You can click any of the links above to view current search data, or to conduct your own searches. Don’t worry, there are no pictures.

Keep in mind that the search volumes from Islamic nations would be even higher if the governments of most of those nations did not maintain large firewalls preventing their citizens from accessing huge portions of the Internet. For example, WikiIslam is unreachable from Pakistan. Also keep in mind that many of the citizens of Islamic nations do not have Internet access and that many who do are not literate enough in English to conduct English language web searches. The numbers you see are generated by a very small percentage of the population of the Islamic nations represented.

What is it about Islam that causes it’s adherents to seek out such… odd forms of pornography?  Most of the terms listed above refer to sexual practices which are considered both mental illnesses and serious crimes in the civilized world.

The trouble dates all the way back to Muhammad, the founder of Islam.  Muhammad married a six year old girl, molested her for three years, and then started raping her when she was nine years old.  Muhammad also led or commanded raids of neighboring villages to take slaves and then promoted the use of captured women as sex slaves.  This was done to reward his men for participating in the raids and to recruit additional men for future raids.  Both of these behaviors are documented in the Hadiths which record the life of Muhammad and make up the majority of Islamic religious texts.

When these behaviors are undertaken by the founder of a religion and are supported by the religious texts which all adherents of the religion must follow — how can we as civilized people expect the situation to improve?

A Majority of Unaffiliated Voters Believe that the Government is Operating Unconstitutionally

A Majority of Unaffiliated Voters Believe that the Government is Operating Unconstitutionally

A recent poll by Rasmussen, shows that many Americans are now aware of the fact that the U.S. government is operating outside of the limits defined for it in the United States Constitution.

Unsurprisingly, the poll responses correlate with party membership. 65% of Republicans realize that the government is operating outside of it’s Constitutional bounds, while 61% of Democrats do not see the problem.

Most importantly though is that 52% of the voters not affiliated with either major party now see that the government has spun out of our control. These unaffiliated voters are the swing votes that either major party needs to win elections. The people who allowed Barry Obama to be elected in 2007 are now changing their allegiances from the government to the people.

Perhaps in 2011 we will see the changes for which many of us have been waiting all of our lives, a return to a limited Constitutional government — a return to a government which respects the rights of the people.

The Happy Warrior

The Happy Warrior

I awoke early today and the quiet of the morning leads me to introspection.  I think of what is good in life and it seems to me that there is nothing better in life than to be a happy warrior; to move from struggle to struggle with a smile on your face and a gleam in your eye.

Many of us could, if we wished, retire from the struggles of life.  But retirement is not the natural state of man.  Billions of years of evolution have designed man to struggle and that struggle is what most effectively brings joy to our lives.  It’s not the destination, it’s the journey.

These thoughts reminded me of William Wordsworth’s 1881 poem, The Character of the Happy Warrior:

Character of The Happy Warrior

WHO is the happy Warrior? Who is he
That every man in arms should wish to be?
–It is the generous Spirit, who, when brought
Among the tasks of real life, hath wrought
Upon the plan that pleased his boyish thought:
Whose high endeavours are an inward light
That makes the path before him always bright:
Who, with a natural instinct to discern
What knowledge can perform, is diligent to learn;
Abides by this resolve, and stops not there,
But makes his moral being his prime care;
Who, doomed to go in company with Pain,
And Fear, and Bloodshed, miserable train!
Turns his necessity to glorious gain;
In face of these doth exercise a power
Which is our human nature’s highest dower;
Controls them and subdues, transmutes, bereaves
Of their bad influence, and their good receives:
By objects, which might force the soul to abate
Her feeling, rendered more compassionate;
Is placable–because occasions rise
So often that demand such sacrifice;
More skilful in self-knowledge, even more pure,
As tempted more; more able to endure,
As more exposed to suffering and distress;
Thence, also, more alive to tenderness.
–’Tis he whose law is reason; who depends
Upon that law as on the best of friends;
Whence, in a state where men are tempted still
To evil for a guard against worse ill,
And what in quality or act is best
Doth seldom on a right foundation rest,
He labours good on good to fix, and owes
To virtue every triumph that he knows:
–Who, if he rise to station of command,
Rises by open means; and there will stand
On honourable terms, or else retire,
And in himself possess his own desire;
Who comprehends his trust, and to the same
Keeps faithful with a singleness of aim;
And therefore does not stoop, nor lie in wait
For wealth, or honours, or for worldly state;
Whom they must follow; on whose head must fall,
Like showers of manna, if they come at all:
Whose powers shed round him in the common strife,
Or mild concerns of ordinary life,
A constant influence, a peculiar grace;
But who, if he be called upon to face
Some awful moment to which Heaven has joined
Great issues, good or bad for human kind,
Is happy as a Lover; and attired
With sudden brightness, like a Man inspired;
And, through the heat of conflict, keeps the law
In calmness made, and sees what he foresaw;
Or if an unexpected call succeed,
Come when it will, is equal to the need:
–He who, though thus endued as with a sense
And faculty for storm and turbulence,
Is yet a Soul whose master-bias leans
To homefelt pleasures and to gentle scenes;
Sweet images! which, wheresoe’er he be,
Are at his heart; and such fidelity
It is his darling passion to approve;
More brave for this, that he hath much to love:–
‘Tis, finally, the Man, who, lifted high,
Conspicuous object in a Nation’s eye,
Or left unthought-of in obscurity,–
Who, with a toward or untoward lot,
Prosperous or adverse, to his wish or not–
Plays, in the many games of life, that one
Where what he most doth value must be won:
Whom neither shape of danger can dismay,
Nor thought of tender happiness betray;
Who, not content that former worth stand fast,
Looks forward, persevering to the last,
From well to better, daily self-surpast:
Who, whether praise of him must walk the earth
For ever, and to noble deeds give birth,
Or he must fall, to sleep without his fame,
And leave a dead unprofitable name–
Finds comfort in himself and in his cause;
And, while the mortal mist is gathering, draws
His breath in confidence of Heaven’s applause:
This is the happy Warrior; this is He
That every Man in arms should wish to be.
