On the lighter side

The state of Louisiana has a law that makes it illegal to rob a bank and then shoot at the bank teller with a water pistol. Forget the actual robbing of the bank and the mass public hysteria and detrimental physical and psychological problems that can stem from this event. If the robber plasters an unsuspecting teller with water ring the sirens that robber is getting the book throw at him.

Well, obviously this law is in effect to make an impact at trial and to add some more punishment, fines or jail time to the hapless robbers from court proceedings. None the less it is a fun little tidbit in Louisiana law. What would the teller testify to? That they got suckered into handing over bundles of cash under the threat of a water squirter? The severe anguish and trauma from a blast from a water squirt? I can’t speak for the teller and the possibility of phobias or flashbacks to other real robberies that might bring back some agonizing memories but I can safe say that 9 times out of 10 a bank teller would just end up scratching their head over the attack with H2O.

What is incredible to wonder is that the robber that squirts the teller with water while triumphantly running out the door will get more jail time and/or fines that a robber loaded with a real gun or bomb. Well of course the robbers packing some real heat will get more charges brought against them like assault with a deadly weapon and other charges related to the weapons used I guess the cerebral robber hedges his bets and might think that they can get a lesser penalty for just a little water gun which is great to hope of for in a terrible situation for victims. In a way it could saves lives in the long run and leave FICA to cover the rest.

Either which way this law is kind of peculiar compared to other laws. I say whatever law punishes criminals and preserves the living is alright by me. Keep the water pistol law going!
