Newt Endorses the Tea Parties
Newt Gingrich has never been afraid to speak his mind, a fact which has cause him countless difficulties with both Democrats and Republicans. At various times he has fallen out of favor with both conservative and liberal Republicans. He now runs American Solutions, a “grassroots movement to recruit, educate, and empower citizen activists and elected officials to develop solutions to transform all levels of government.”
Newt recently authored a guest column for the Demoines Register, Will 2010 become the year of the Tea Party? This is a gutsy and forward-thinking move when most beltway Republicans are still trying to pretend that the tea parties don’t exist.
Newt takes on that failed thinking directly when he writes “There is a much deeper anger in America than the media elites or the Democrats in Congress and the White House understand. Furthermore, the constant effort to belittle the citizens who are moving decisively against the left-wing establishment (including those parts of the Republican Party that are seen as associated with that establishment of the left) is only increasing this anger.”
The tea party movement may succeed or it may fail — that is up to us. Newt is very positive about the potential for success, “The year 2010 will almost certainly be the year of the Tea Party thanks to the machines that run our state and federal capitals and the arrogance with which they seek to change our lives and control our futures.”
Newt finishes his column with a firm call to action, one which will certainly cause him ire from many big-government beltway Republicans “… every American who is not corrupted by the secular-socialist left should be a member of the Tea Party movement.”
That’s not the wishy-washy language we’re accustomed to hearing from our politicians. The time for whisy-washiness is over — it’s time to act.
