Ken Salazar Abandons Ethics to Save Job

Ken Salazar, President Obama’s Secretary of the Interior, may soon job the ranks of America’s millions of unemployed. Barack Obama publicly took responsibility for the troubled cleanup efforts surrounding the Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill, saying “In case you’re wondering who’s responsible, I take responsibility.” However, a USA Today/Gallup public opinion poll shows that the majority of Americans rate Obama’s handling of the oil spill as “poor” or “very poor” and the President is searching for a fall guy.

Obama recently made disparaging remarks concerning Salazar’s job performance during a White House press conference. Obama criticized Salazar as moving too slowly to reform MMS (Minerals Management Service) and avoided answering the question as to whether Salazar’s job was safe. MMS head Elizabeth Birnbaum has already been fired as part of the political bloodletting.

Salazar is obviously being set up as a fall guy to protect the President. Firing Ken will give Obama a chance to look tough and make it appear as if he is doing something about the massive oil spill. This will appease Obama’s rabidly environmentalist base.

Ken is a career politician and he can see the writing on the wall. Unfortunately, he took an unethical shortcut in an attempt to curry favor with the far-left environmentalist movement.

A team of seven experts recommended by the National Academy of Engineering was bought in to advise President Obama on offshore drilling safety. Ken took their report, changed the conclusions, and presented it to President Obama.

The experts unanimously oppose a six-month moratorium on offshore drilling. Ken edited the report by adding a new conclusion which recommended the six-month moratorium and then claimed that the final document had been peer reviewed by the group of experts. Needless to say, Salazar now has seven angry scientists on his hands.

Ken’s eagerness to pander to his extreme left-wing critics has caused him to abandon his ethical principles. This will lead to consequences far beyond simply losing his current job.

The article in the next to last paragraph states “Salazar now has seven angry scientists on his hands.”

The Secretary of Interior, Ken Salazar; may or may not be to blame for the lifting of the 20 year drilling ban by the present administration. A ban that once lifted facilitated the BP blowout. I am almost positive that The Secretary of Interior, Ken Salazar, is very displeased with oil mess created by BP blowout.

That may be why the Secretary of Interior is reluctant to agree with these seven scientists. I would like more information about these seven scientists and their recommendations made public.

Although I do agree with this Oceanographer . . .
    http://www.oceanfutures.org/news/blog/psa-florida-oil-drilling
that there are certain areas where drilling should never take place.

However we do need energy and it is logical that it will take longer than six months to develop drilling tools and techniques that will adequately drill in a safe manner at great depths and great pressures.

Look at how long it has taken to get to the point where BP is today,
and they are still developing new tools and procedures to handle only one blow out.

Six months, and seven scientists, is that all the resources and time that we really need to say to the President go ahead and drill?

Another article on the web states these seven scientists are afraid that if we do not resume drilling very quickly that the oil rigs in the US waters will leave our area for other nations as there is a high demand for them. That we might not get these rigs back for years.

Well then it is time we as a nation develop a new generation of oil platform rigs, “built in the USA”; oil rigs that will more than meet the challenges of drilling safely in great ocean depths, where there are extreme pressures and temperatures.

The President would be smart to implement the building of these structures putting US citizens back to work again. Our nation developing a product made in the USA. A product in which we can have confidence in!

This would put our US; scientists, engineers, and skilled workers back to work again and also create jobs for others in our great country the USA.

Then we could take some of our new oil rigs and implement them in waters all over the world since, as these seven scientists say, there is such a great need for them. This then in turn would bring money into the United States economy not only in drilling but in construction.

Also in doing this the Secretary of Interior would be in a more stable position.
