"The Second Amendment of the United States Constitution must not be torn up. It is a promise made to us over 200 years ago by our founding fathers, proud and safe gun owners, to bear arms. Having said that, I have never owned a gun, I am not terribly fond of them, but I respect them and their power and so should all gun owners. My father taught me this years ago. He was a policeman who took the responsibility of demonstrating to me at a young age the power of a weapon. We went to a shooting range, he showed me what a gun could do and I respected it. There were never any problems. We must instill this in the people of our country, not by introducing thousands of new arcane laws, but by enforcing those good laws already on the books. It is wrong and shameful that some members of congress, like my opponent, are using guns as a negative political wedge issue to scare people this election year."
