I am also a long time member of the NRA and I think you need to compare like organisations and their capacity to lobby and alter legislation, although I live in Australia I support the NRA because it is the one model Pro Gun organisation that really stands up and works;it does this with consideration and moral decency, and is very effective. If you were to compare for example the pathetic disjointed and ineffective groups in Australia you would see my point . Australian firearms owners have some of the most stringent and unneccessary laws Re firearms ownership,if a criminal commits an atrocity with a firearm, the legal and registered shooter is punished with new ridiculously severe laws. Former Prime Minister Howards wife had an aversion to Handguns so he was badgered into making draconian laws to keep her happy, not any of the firearms groups could get together and fight the laws as thay were arguing like children as to who was boss. So I suggest that you have in The NRA the best Model in the free world and should be thankful. As for fund raising the services and goods offered to members are excellent.
