Islamic law considers dogs to be unclean.

Don't walk this puppy in Iran!

Aren’t you glad that you don’t live in Iran?

The unfortunate fellow in this photo is Mamand Mamandy, a Kurd who was caught drinking beer during a visit to Iran.

The Iranian police arrested Mamand and lashed him 130 times.

Pakistani Girl Traded for Dead Fathers Poker Debt

Tuesday, February 27th, 2007 | Posted in News of the Weird | No Comments »

The Associated Press, via FoxNews, reports that a group of village elders in Hyderabad Pakistan ruled in January that, in payment for a sixteen year old poker debt created by her dead father, 17 year old Rasheeda Umrani was to be forced into marriage to one of Lal Haider’s sons.

Most of Pakistan is still ruled by groups of village elders who decide all cases by tribal law — most of which is based upon the Islamic Koran.

Officials in Pakistans central government are constantly attempting to correct the most dangerous decisions of these tribal courts, including one case where a woman was sentenced to be gang raped because of crimes her brother was charged with.

But I have another question. Who is this son of Lal Haider? Who is this fellow who is so despicable that he would take a wife like this? Does he have no self-esteem? Is he so ugly, stupid, and ill-mannered that this is the only way that he can get a wife?

I wish that fellow had Internet access just so that he could read this post. Heck though — if he could read he could probably get a wife of his own.
